Perhaps the best way to buy a computer is to shop on the Web. Yes, you will pay shipping charges of about $50 to $100, but you will also often reap those kind of savings. In the US, there is no tax payable when you buy on the Web. In Canada, you pay the Goods and Services Tax and sometimes Provincial Sales Tax if the seller ships from your own province. You will also pay GST if you buy from the US and ship to Canada. It will be payable as the goods cross the border. Thanks to the North American Free Trade Agreement there are no duites payable on tech gear as it transits the US/Canadian border.
